First Light — Refund Policy
Version: 1.1 Effective Date: August 28, 2026 Originally Effective: August 1, 2026 Last Updated: August 28, 2026
We stand behind First Light.
If First Light isn't for you, we want you to get your money back. No runaround, no pressure to justify yourself, no fine print designed to make the refund harder than the signup.
Here's how refunds work.
1. The 365-day guarantee
Within 365 days of your initial purchase, you can request a full refund for any reason or no reason at all.
- No minimum usage requirement
- No questions asked
- No "what were you hoping for" survey required
- No hoops
Email support@seefirstlight.com from the address tied to your account. We'll process the refund to your original payment method via Stripe within 7 business days of approval. Depending on your card issuer, it may take an additional billing cycle to appear on your statement.
2. Refunds after renewal
Your First Light subscription automatically renews each year. If you're charged for a renewal and decide the next year isn't for you, you have 30 days from the renewal date to request a refund, provided you haven't made substantial use of the Service during that renewal period.
"Substantial use" means more than a handful of check-ins in the renewal period. If you logged in once, saw you were charged, and decided to cancel — that's a refund. If you used the Service actively for three weeks of the new year and then decided to cancel — that's a prorated credit we'll discuss, not a full refund.
Email support@seefirstlight.com within 30 days of the renewal charge.
3. If we terminate your account
If we close your account because we're shutting down First Light or discontinuing a feature you paid for, you'll receive a prorated refund for the unused portion of your current billing period.
If we close your account because you violated our Terms of Service (fraud, abuse, payment issues, or similar), no refund will be issued.
4. What's not refundable
- Payments older than 365 days from your initial purchase, other than the 30-day renewal refund window described in Section 2
- Add-ons, gifts, or non-subscription purchases (none currently offered, but reserved for the future)
- Charges disputed with your card issuer while we have an active refund offer on the table — please email us first; a chargeback takes longer, may trigger account closure, and isn't needed when the 365-day guarantee is already open to you
5. What happens to your account after a refund
If you receive a refund under the 365-day guarantee or the 30-day renewal window:
- Your subscription will be cancelled
- Your access to First Light will end
- Export your data first — you can download a complete copy any time from Settings, and once you delete your account the deletion is immediate and permanent
- Your Founding Circle price (if applicable) is forfeited; re-enrollment later will be at then-current standard pricing
Details on data export and deletion are in our Privacy Policy.
6. How to request a refund — step by step
- Email support@seefirstlight.com from the email address tied to your account
- Include:
- Your account email
- The approximate date of the charge you want refunded
- (Optional) Any feedback you're open to sharing — it genuinely helps us improve
- We'll confirm receipt within 2 business days
- Refund processed within 7 business days of confirmation
- Card issuer typically posts the refund within 5–10 additional business days
You don't need to explain yourself, and you won't be talked out of it.

Revision History
Version 1.1 — effective August 28, 2026
Consolidates every change made since Version 1.0 took effect on August 1, 2026:
- Deletion timing. Corrected a promise of up to 30 days to export your data before deletion; deletion is immediate, and the export is available beforehand rather than during a wait.
On notice. This Policy commits us to updating the "Last Updated" date and to applying changes only to purchases made after the update. Both were honoured: no purchases existed during this period. First Light had no users, and the only accounts in existence belonged to the operator, testing the Service before launch.
Version 1.0 — effective August 1, 2026. Initial published policy.
